Alto Intelligence and identifAI announce a strategic partnership that adds another layer of detection precision to Alto's cognitive and narrative intelligence infrastructure, sharpening the signal that drives the full context behind deepfakes, synthetic media, and AI-driven manipulation targeting governments, enterprises and executives.

Deepfakes: identifAI and Alto Intelligence Join Forces Against AI-Generated Threats
From 4 synthetic media incidents recorded globally in January 2020 to 3,165 detected in March 2026 — figures based on identifAI's own tracking alone: an exponential growth that illustrates the rapid industrialization of AI-generated threats, and that is driving organizations active in countering this phenomenon to increasingly integrate their capabilities.
This is the significance of the strategic partnership announced by identifAI, an Italian startup specialized in detecting AI-generated and AI-manipulated digital content, and Alto Intelligence, a cognitive threat intelligence platform operating in more than 50 languages and capable of analyzing over 700 billion digital signals annually. The agreement combines identifAI's advanced detection capabilities with Alto Intelligence's cognitive intelligence infrastructure, providing public and private organizations with a greater ability to identify disinformation campaigns, influence operations, and synthetic manipulation — and to intervene swiftly.
identifAI will contribute its proprietary high-precision detection technology, designed to identify AI-generated or AI-manipulated images, videos, and audio content. Alto Intelligence will integrate these capabilities into its cognitive and narrative threat intelligence platform, enabling the correlation of synthetic content with influence campaigns, coordinated networks, and hostile activities detected across the global information landscape. This enables a complete intelligence cycle — from the detection of a single manipulated asset to the understanding of the broader information operation behind it — in support of security, intelligence, executive, and strategic communications teams.
The integrated solution is designed to support organizations operating in complex and critical environments, including defense and law enforcement, critical infrastructure, financial and banking services, large multinational enterprises, and public and multilateral institutions.
"The boundary between authentic and artificial content is thinning at an impressive pace," says Marco Ramilli, CEO and co-founder of identifAI. "Deepfakes, manipulated media, and AI-generated narratives are no longer isolated incidents — they are effective and routine tools in the hands of those seeking to pollute public debate and muddy the waters in order to influence governments, strike critical infrastructure, manipulate financial markets, threaten the banking sector, and destabilize international organizations. identifAI was created to make visible what AI attempts to conceal — to lift the veil on this threat. Now, with Alto Intelligence, we are bringing this capability into a threat intelligence ecosystem where detection becomes an integral part of a broader defense strategy."
"Synthetic content are one element of cognitive campaigns that are quickly changing the way bad actors manipulate perception at scale," says Alejandro Romero, CEO of Alto Intelligence. "They are easy to create and difficult to intercept, blending into the digital noise or targeted advertising campaigns and spreading at extreme speeds — putting the operations, reputation, and people of governments and enterprises at risk. With some of our clients suffering thousands of such campaigns on a weekly basis, the integration with identifAI adds another layer of detection precision on top of Alto's existing models, feeding sharper signal into the enriched and historical metadata that enable our clients to see the full threat context behind deepfakes and synthetic content."

About Alto Intelligence

About identifAI
identifAI is an Italian startup that has developed an innovative AI-powered technology platform — based on what the company calls "degenerative" artificial intelligence — capable of determining with a high degree of confidence whether an image or video was produced by a generative AI system or by a human, with the aim of making users aware of what they are actually seeing. Through proactive solutions and advanced AI technologies, identifAI promotes the integrity of creative expression and provides tools to appreciate both human and artificial contributions; it is also designed as an instrument to support digital security and combat disinformation through image verification. In July 2025, identifAI announced a €5 million funding round led by United Ventures, a venture capital manager focused on investments in technology startups — coming less than a year after a previous €2.2 million investment, reflecting a shared commitment to developing technologies to counter the malicious use of deepfakes and promote a transparent and secure information environment.
